Father Pat, you are a model of the qualities we seek to recognize and affirm with these awards. During your 14 years there, the name St.Stephens has been virtually synonymous with compassion, with outreach to the most disadvantaged, with putting spiritual energy into practical use. Countless people in this community have had difficult lives eased and maybe even changed by their contact with the many programs and kind hearts guided by you at St.Stephens. And now you are carrying on that heartfelt work at St. Phillips.
We have heard about you from many people. Their voices perfectly capture who you are:
"Patrick is kind and possesses a gentle strength. He has a gracious soul and unwavering hospitality that encircles each person he meets with compassion."
"Pat lived his priesthood in a manner to which I aspired: conscientious, courageous, always concerned for the marginalized, steady, and always a gentleman. I can only hope that my ministry in some small way reflects the Christ-like way that Pat has affected so many."
"Wise, great sense of humor, great smile, a passion for the homeless."
"He has the good sense to let good people do the jobs; he says I don’t really work here, I’m just the pastor."
Thank you for the inspiration you have given to the rest of us.
Congratulations!
