You are a wonderful example of Sullivan Ballou’s spirit. You are devoting your life to improving conditions in Sub-Saharan Africa and among immigrants from that area in the United States. Some of those most in need are victims of torture and newly arrived refugees, whom you have assisted through your work with the Center for Victims of Torture and Catholic Charities. Housing, health care, medical care, food stamps, food, furniture, and utilities all must be arranged for newcomers.
One of your most significant contributions has been your specialty of recruiting and organizing volunteers through several agencies, especially the ONE Campaign, which advocates for Sub-Saharan Africa. Not only does this magnify what you could accomplish on your own, but it enriches the lives of the volunteers and builds a constituency of support for those in need.
We commend you on receiving your recent Masters Degree in Human Rights. We know that you have a rewarding career ahead of you.
Congratulations!
